Violin Guarneri del Gesu 2022 "Vieuxtemps"

This violin was started OCtober 2021, a comission from a regular customer of the studio.

The idea was to explore a little further the posibilities of the del Gesu design and deepen my understanding of his models of the late period.  I had previosly lookied at the Dushkin and this time I was looking at the Viextemps.

As usual, my aim is not to do an exact coopy but rather model an interesting instrument and let my own personal style reflect in the results.

The outcome is an very comfortable violin, ease of playing across all registers. Length of body is 352mm with a body/neck stop of 193-130mm.

Of very balanced and robust sound, generous projection in large halls and expresive character.

Violin Stradivari PG

The P.G. forma of Antonio Stradivari. A violin built around my reconstruction of the original mould in the Museo del Violino.

A timeless classic design, the P.G. mould is the paradigm of violin shape, with very smooth flowing curves and an ideal proportion of bouts.

Body length of 356mm and standard body/neck stop of 195 to 130mm.

Built with well seasoned balkan maple and italian spruce. Pristine finish with my home cooked oil varnish.
